Speaking Engagements

I’m always happy to get involved in speaking opportunities, whether that’s at a conference, on a panel, as part of a roundtable, on a podcast or at a community event.

Technology is obviously a big part of what I do, but I’m particularly interested in the people side of technology, how we manage change, how technology affects the way we work and making sure we don’t introduce technology just for the sake of it.

I’m also passionate about talking openly about mental health and sharing some of my own experiences.

Technology & Leadership

I’ve worked across different areas of the technology industry throughout my career, and that has given me plenty of experiences and lessons to talk about.

Some of the areas I’m particularly interested in include:

  • Technology and people – Why technology should ultimately make things better for the people using it.
  • Technology leadership – The challenges that come with making decisions, managing change and trying to bring people with you.
  • AI and the workplace – How AI and tools like Copilot are changing how we work, and why we need to think about how we use them rather than simply jumping on the latest trend.
  • Careers in technology – There isn’t one route into or through the technology industry. I’m happy to share my own journey, what I’ve learnt and some of the things I wish I’d known earlier.
  • Change and transformation – The reality of introducing new technology and ways of working, including when things don’t quite go to plan.

Mental Health

Mental health is something that is very personal to me, and over time I’ve become much more open about my own experiences.

I think we need to be better at talking about mental health, particularly in the workplace, and recognising that we don’t always know what somebody else is dealing with.

I’m happy to talk about my own experiences, mental health in the workplace, invisible challenges and why creating the space for honest conversations really matters.

Community & Volunteering

A big part of my life outside of work is volunteering and being involved in community organisations.

I’m particularly passionate about skills-based volunteering and encouraging people to use the knowledge and experience they’ve built through their careers to support charities and community organisations.

There is a huge amount that people working in technology can offer their communities, without necessarily having to give up loads of their time.

A Bit About How I Speak

I’m not going to stand on a stage and pretend I’ve got all the answers.

I’d much rather talk honestly about my experiences, what’s worked, what hasn’t, mistakes I’ve made and what I’ve learnt from them.

Hopefully people come away with something useful, something that makes them think, or even just reassurance that everyone is figuring some of this stuff out as they go along.

You can find out more about me on my About page or have a look through my blog to see some of the things I regularly talk and write about.

Invite Me to Speak

If you’re organising an event, conference, panel, roundtable or podcast and think I could add something to the conversation, please get in touch.
