My Journey
I had always aspired to work in the field of IT, although initially, my dream was to become a teacher, driven by a strong desire to help others. When my plans for teaching didn’t materialise, I found myself at a crossroads, unsure of my next steps. To gain clarity on my career path, I decided to complete my A Levels while I contemplated my future. After a year, it became evident that continuing in this direction wasn’t the best choice, prompting me to embark on a journey to secure an IT apprenticeship.
In February 2015, I officially launched my IT career, full of enthusiasm and ready to embrace a fresh challenge. Despite believing my school days were behind me, I seized an opportunity to begin my IT apprenticeship at a secondary school. However, after a year, unforeseen circumstances led me to another pivotal decision point. I had to choose between continuing my Level 4 apprenticeship with a different company or diving straight into my second IT job with the newfound skills I had acquired.
In February 2016, I embarked on my Level 4 apprenticeship at an IT company, where I dedicated 7.5 years of my life, progressing from an IT apprentice to a Technical Solutions Specialist. During this journey, I expanded my skillset and knowledge, transitioning from support to consulting and architecture.
In August 2023, my journey took another exciting turn when I was offered the role of Head of Technology at a childcare and coaching provider, called Shine. In April 2024, I am helping form an tech company which is an offshoot from Shine called TeamTech4.
As an adept technology leader, I am deeply passionate about fostering innovation and leaving a positive impact. With experience in installing, maintaining, and optimizing computer and software systems, I have consistently delivered high-quality results. Whether operating in a professional or personal capacity, I am dedicated to meticulous planning and prioritization, ensuring that objectives are not only met but exceeded, all while maintaining a high standard of excellence.
Charity
Passionate about making a positive impact in the community, I’ve also been an active Trustee at a mental health charity, called Young Minds Matter since July 2023. This role has allowed me to combine my dedication to mental health advocacy with my IT expertise.
In July 2025, I became a Trustee of Pomphrey Hill, after working with them for a few months as an IT Consultant in relation to the work I do with the BCS Bristol and Bath branch. Being a local charity, it felt great to be able to be apart of something that I can see day in day out the impact it’s having.
BCS, The Chartered Institute for IT
I joined BCS as a member in 2023, followed by joining the committee of the Bristol & Bath Branch, initially focusing on supporting initiatives related to STEM (promoting the industry into schools). However, I knew I had the passion to support nonprofits, so I took on the role of Skills-Based Volunteering Lead. I spearhead initiatives to match BCS industry members in the Bristol & Bath area with nonprofit and charitable organizations, as well as schools. My efforts focus on fostering meaningful collaborations that benefit both the volunteers and the communities they serve.
It has helped me a lot since joining, finding mentors, expanding my network & increasing my impact by volunteering.
